The opportunity..

Indonesia’s hydropower potential is estimated at around 75,000 MW, with untapped resources concentrated on the islands of Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi. The government is eager to approve new projects but capital availability remains limited.

In 2018, of the approximately 60,000 MW of electricity used every year in Indonesia, only 12% of this came from renewable energy sources. The rest is sourced from coal (55%), gas (26%), and oil (7%)

Both the central government and PLN understand the importance of increasing the use of renewable energy, targeting a total contribution of 23% from renewable sources by 2023, which will require an investment of around US$150billion based on the 2019 budget.

The project..

Located at  Desa Pardomuan, North Sumatra. This project can supply 6 MW to the grid per year and has alread received aprroval by the government & PLN for a 20 year PPA (Power Purchase Agreement). To complete the project, funding of circa USD 15 Million is needed to undertake the necessary capital investment, with a significant contolling equity stake up for negotation.
