18MW WASTE-TO-ENERGY (MSW) PROJECT LOOKING FOR INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS – TOTAL INVESTMENT OF $150m/ SITE WITH 1700tpd PROCESSING CAPICTY IN EACH OF SOUTH & EAST JAKARTA

Project type: Waste-to-Energy – Municipal Solid Waste.

Power Generation: 18MW EACH FOR SOUTH AND EAST JAKARTA (36MW total)

Waste processing capacity:  1700 TPD EACH FOR SOUTH AND EAST JKT (3400 total)

Total Funding needed:  $150m / site ($300m total)

Project stage: Local permits have been secured and the business is currently filing to participate in the Tender. The deadline for participation is the end of Feb 2021, but given the difficulties faced by competitors in securing land, the tender is likely to fail without our client’s participation.

Summary: The project is located in Jakarta, and will be either BOO or BOT. Under the BOT agreement, potential partners will provide the acquired land as their asset for the development of the Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF); or under the BOO option, potential partners will provide the land with a long- lease contract for the development of the Intermediate Treatment Facility (ITF). The Power plant is using Municipal Solid Waste as a feedstock and at first will process 1700 tpd at each site. The major issue for competitors to undertake and win this tender is the availability of land. Our client has a unique advantage as they have already secured the land at an attractive price during the previous tender.  This project requires a large international investor to help complete the tender process, and participate in what would be a flagship waste-to-energy project in Indonesia.

Founders background:  The founders have already successfully participated and won this WTE tender but were unable to execute given a lack of funding. The connections the founders have are extremely valuable and difficult to replicate and they have been re-invited to participate on the basis that a foreign investor can be secured before the tender.

Technology:  In order to create 18MW at each site, the projects will use MGI (moving grate incinerator) technology. However, the Jakarta government has also made MBT (Mechanical Biological Treatment) an option in the event tender participates would prefer to sell biofuel rather than electricity to the grid
